Jolly
Sailor
The Jolly Sailor, a pub dating from the 17th century, overlooks
Hythe Quay on the River Blackwater, where Thames Sailing Barges
are moored. During the 19th century these flat-bottomed vessels
would have navigated the narrow creeks collecting and delivering
produce to the farms around this peninsula.
