St Pauls Cathedral, London (2955) April 2006 | Another

Restoration
Beyond the trees and carefully organised beds of Daffodils a trompe l'oeil image of St Pauls shrouds the seemingly constant work of restoration. This work began 6 years ago and the plan is to complete it by 2008, just in time for the 300th anniversary of its opening.

A grreat shot Tony, the maintenance of the Cathedral will be permament and I never realized the 300th anniversary is in 2008.I agree with Maliisa that the sky is a nice rich blue.

Hi Funny, thank you. The 'weekend' lasted a little longer than expected .. so I'm typing these words into a computer at the local 'resource centre' in Maldon.

Melissa, this blue is influenced by the automatic white balance picking up on the street lights and shifting the sky into this deep blue .. enjoy the day.

Robert, thank you, this place is lit for making pictures like this .. all you need is a tripod, and to find a spot on the grass.

Beautifully done Tony. Reminds me of that couple (Christo & Jean-Claude) who go around the world wrapping up buildings and structures as artwork.

there's an et missing off the end of that url. Should be .net - Anyone know how you flag a URL so it's clickable?

If done the right way...okay. The old is new...the new is old.

TA truncates links from time to time ~ What's a clickable link? http://christojeanneclaude.net/

I really love this shot Tony. It's excellent! I especially like the rays coming off of those lights and the blue darkness of the sky ;)

Angie, thanks very much. Strangely enough I usually find this 'starburst' effect from the lights slightly distracting, but here it seems to fit in with the environment.

Hi Pook, thank you, and thanks for popping by.

36. Posted by Odon on 4/23/2006 4:03:42 PM
Really a great shot! Despite all the other rich elements on this picture, my vote goes to that tree on the center. Beautiful!

37. Posted by tony on 4/24/2006 12:19:37 AM
Hi Odon, thanks .. those trees certainly add something to our lives. If I was going for a particular element in this picture I'd probably pick out the ghostly double-decker bus on the left of the frame.
