EcoShed
This little space brings a whole new meaning to the garden shed. It uses sustainable materials in its construction, including a green roof, and can be fitted with kitchenette, shower, and underfloor heating. Costs range from £18,000 - £35,000, and you'll need utilities connected, which may cost a couple more thousand.

Another Home
About the size of a couple of shipping containers this 'holiday home' has two bedrooms and starts around £50,000. The building uses timber from sustainable forests and comes with fitted kitchen and bathroom, and if you would like a 'sustainable-model', this includes a dual flush toilet, a moss-sedum roof, photovoltaic roof panels and solar water heating.

Dongtan - Sustainable City?
The developers are selling Dongtan in China as a 'sustainable city', but it's built around a yachting marina and golf courses, which must conflict with the idea of sustainability. I supect the 'sustainability' idea is for the benefit of the Chinese Government and the image is to entice overseas and rich local people into a booming property market.

Quick House
what are my final costs?
Depending on which package you buy, the QUIK HOUSE will cost between $150,000 and $175,000 finished plus taxes. This translates into a per square foot cost of between $73 and $90, about half the cost of a conventional house.

Container Home
A couple of steel shipping containers and a high amount of ingenuity provides a habital structure for researchers in the rainforest of Far North Queensland. The standard 20' x 8' (6m x 2.44m) containers were placed 10' (3m) apart, and raised onto a galvanised metal platform to keep the space dry and to avoid snakes, rats. A small angle grinder was used to cut holes for doors and large windows with RHS (Rolled Hollow Section) steel bolted onto the wall to reinforce the frames, and the roof area, covered with cheap portable carports, provided a large sitting area to view the rainforest, dry clothes, and reduce the noise of the tropical downpours.

Prefab from Australia
One of the leading new Australian designers, Andrew Maynard, puts it simply: "How can the housing industry make exciting, well designed and cheap housing? Easy, mimic the car industry."

Torpid Turbines
Twenty six wind turbines each 400 feet high are planned for a site near to Bradwell-on-Sea. This 'wind farm' is being sited on the Dengie Marshes, a place of special interest, and alongside St. Peter’s Way towards St Peter-on-the-Wall, a church built by St Cedd of Lindisfarne in AD 654 and the oldest complete Saxon church in the world.
The proposals were rejected by Maldon District Council on 6 July 2006.

Hollywood Clicks on the Work of Web Auteurs
By John Clark, Published: July 23, 2006
'Even as David Lehre’s “MySpace: The Movie,” an 11-minute parody of the social-networking Web site, spawned a high-profile feeding frenzy, some of the Hollywood agents, managers and lawyers who were clamoring to represent him didn’t know much about who he was, what he did or what they would do if they got him. But they wanted him anyway.
“It’s their fear of not being a part of it,” said Scott Vener, Mr. Lehre’s manager, who first discovered him on the video-sharing Web site YouTube, where “MySpace” became an Internet phenomenon.'

Guardian Review : Concrete jumble
Empty streets, wilting cabbages and floating bow-ties ... Is this really how artists perceive urban architecture? By Adrian Searle
'It is a pity Archipeinture could not have gone further with its theme. The relationship of painting, and art in general, to architecture is deeply complicated. Most of all, it is a story about people, rather than things and walls.'
> Archipeinture: Painters Build Architecture is at Camden Arts Centre, London NW3, until September 17. Details: 7472 5500

About ..
The web site has two parts; 'Photograph', which are my photographs, organised by year and month, and 'Another', which is my moblog archive and notebook,

Notebook
For as long as I can remember I've kept notebooks, they ended up as a pile on a shelf, fill boxes, and gather dust. Every month I'll add some information and links to the Notebook, mainly for myself, but also hoping that sometimes this is useful for someone who stumbles across this space.
