Still Time (9025) August 2007 | Another Photograph
Like many other tourists photographing this building I found a spot by the railings to point my camera up towards the big clock. I placed my camera on the tripod, set the camera to f5.6 on aperture priority and used the remote release to trigger the shutter. I tried a few times before getting a reasonably dynamic light trail to break the symbolism of the neo-Gothic architecture.
This place can be 'seen' in so many different ways; it has a multitude of meanings depending on who you are and where you come from. If you're a heating and ventilation engineer you might be fascinated to know this was one of the earliest buildings in the world to have air-conditioning. If you were Guy Fawkes the building would symbolise a fifth of November to remember. And if you're a tourist you may well ask yourself, what does this place mean to me?
